Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Situation:

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leading provider of care, treatment, research and prevention of cancer and related diseases.

Problem:

The goal was to develop a sign standards program that would incorporate their unique marketing and development objectives in their outpatient and clinical care centers in Boston and the region. DFCI interviewed eight sign companies to understand their offerings how they might service the DFCI facilities.

Solution:

Sign System Solutions developed a master plan to parallel Dana-Farber’s expansion. We focused on a standards program for consistency, scalability and flexibility to test different branding strategies including logo designs, color palettes, font selection, materials and finishes. Over a seven-year period, we completed dozens of interior and exterior sign projects in over 20 locations. Our updated model is now integrated into the Dana-Farber marketing standards for future signage and wayfinding needs.

Note:

We recently completed a complex signage wayfinding installation for the new Yawkey Center for Cancer Care. The project included 15 floors – over 300,000 square feet of clinical/outpatient space – and our solution addressed naming, development and donor recognition requirements throughout the center.

“The end result is we now have a graphically enhanced signage system that incorporates our branding wonderfully, is delivered when needed, and is very easy to manage. Sign System Solutions has planned and designed an effective sign program that works for us and provides value to our staff and organization as a whole. We have a tendency to request many fast-track projects and they deliver.”
